William Faulkner once said in criticism of Ernest Hemmingway, "He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary."
Cleverly and honestly came the retort:
"Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words?"
And so to me, little words seem best for reflecting on a scrawny life all jumbled and overflowing with large emotions of every sort.
